User Interface Metrics

I'd like to think that I know exactly what a user interface should be like.

Of course I'm wrong often enough that I've lost my pride.

I do know that GNOME and OSX have caused me great pain when they were not able to deal with the common occurance of a cat walking on the keyboard, or when I slip and press the wrong button.

Those UI designers forgot some important principles in design... They are the kind of people who would make car alarms go off so often that people just ignore them.

See the articles on mistakes vs errors, and how we can avoid them..

The UI's I don't like forget the actual needs of the user, and end up doing really stupid things like change a setting permanently with no indication of what the option was before.
